Week 6 ~ Miracles and Fun - One Week Left in America

Hello po, It's Elder Spackman 

Friends, it's been a month since I've been in the MTC, and I decided that this is the perfect time to share one of the most powerful things I've ever heard, so lock in everybody.

Story time: 
Elder Gary E. Stevenson came in and gave an amazing devotional. We knew it was someone in the Quorum of the 12 because the MTC was locked down and every four weeks one of the 12 come in, so we were hyped. My comp Elder Lybbert really wanted Elder Bednar, as he said, "If it's Elder Bednar I'm running up on stage and giving him a hug". 

Anyways, this story isn't about the devotional, it's about what happened after. On our floor there is this Elder named Elder Bisinger. This guy was not locked in at all, always on Facebook reels, never went to workshops or anything. These are his words not mine, BTW. He was walking in the MTC campus around 6pm, When Elder Stevenson came up to him and said these words -  What I heard next was nothing short of a miracle. He walked up and said, "Early flight, huh, Elder Bisinger? You're going to do great things in Salem, Oregon". Elder Bisinger's tag was covered by his suit coat, and he submitted his mission call six months ago, as well as it being dark outside. He also had an early flight at 6am the next morning. He had never even spoken to Elder Stevenson. This Elder was in tears and the Spirit was pouring out of him when he told me and Elder Lum this in the halls. The power of the Spirit is real and the apostles really do have the priesthood keys. Gary E. Stevenson really is an apostle of Jesus Christ. He told us he, "Has witness to the Lord Jesus Christ", I invite all of you to think about that. Anyway that was just the coolest story I had to share.

Fun stuff:
Since we've been here for four weeks, and still have four weeks to go in the Philippines MTC, we have been plotting our last night in America. I won't say anything because it hasn't happened yet, but it's going to be fun! We made a triple bed, which was really fun. 

I've been a victim of Utah losing because everyone here is a BYU fan. Can't wait to be in the Philippines and outta Provo. Everyone was also falling asleep on Sunday because of how long the day was.

To close:
If you want to figure out how to live your life, Read 3rd Nephi, chapter 12. I encourage you to read all of it. Jesus tells you how to be blessed, and all of the things we can do to become more Christ like. I've observed in my own life that as I've followed these principles just in the MTC, My testimony has grown from "I believe" to "I know". I know Jesus loves you all, I have witness to the Spirit telling me that he loves all of you. I pray for all of you, I love all of you, See you till the day before I leave America for the next 2 years!!!

Week 66 ~ The volcano is erupting... and I live a couple miles away

Sooo to cut to the chase, we saw the Mayon volcano was raised to level 3, which means that it's probably going to erupt. Then we noticed smoke coming off the top, and then a lot more smoke; then when we woke up the next morning the volcano had lava coming out from the top. Luckily, it's just a small eruption right now, with the top of the lava dome slowly flowing down the side. However, if the magna pressure builds, then it will explode like a soda can does when you shake it. So we might have to evacuate. We wouldn't be in immediate danger, however, the ash fall could be dangerous to our health. Our Mission President told us to have seven days worth of clothes ready at all times, so that's been great. Week 43 ~ "If the dog dies in 14 days, you have rabies" - Nurse in Cantanduanes

Well to cut to the chase again, I got bit by a dog in the mountains. It wasn't my fault, he just ran up and was playing and bit me, haha. But I had to wait 5 days to get a rabies shot because there were no available shots. I got 2 injections in my arms and have to get 8 more. The nurse kindly enlightened me that if the dog dies within 14 days I'm cooked and got rabies . Pray for me FR!  But anyway this week was a good week. We had zone conference on a different island (Luzon) so we had to take a boat to get there. The rain was so strong cause there is a small typhoon down here right now and I definitely got a little seasick. Luckily, they were playing Shanghi Noon, a Jackie Chan film so my spirits were lifted. Zone con was good, the main takeaway that I got from it was we need to focus  on helping our friends more, and not giving up on them.  The work this week has been lots of teaching the Restoration of the Gospel, since we were gone all week there really hasn't be...

Week 50 ~ The Field is White and Ready to Harvest

Hello Everyone! How's everyone doing? We are doing well here in San Andres. We had a good long week, at masaya ako na mag share sa inyong gabos (I'm happy to share to you).  Baptism of the Boco family: We had a baptism! It's been awhile in my mission since I've had one, not saying that mission success is based on baptisms cause it's not, and these aren't my baptisms but the Lord's baptism, but let me tell you; it's been refreshing to have some success in this area. Especially since it's been awhile since this area has had any success so it gives the members something to be proud of.   Their conversion:  My companion and I have worked really hard and we've helped revive the success and hype here for missionary work. Of course it's all through the Lord, but it's like I think Alma said that "I boast not of myself, but of the Lord". Because miracles have really been done here.
