Week 19 ~ Field Time Dilation Theory (4 months in)

Ummm...I'm four months into my mission? That's crazy, but it's really not. In the MTC I felt like I had been a missionary my whole life. It was so slow, then I hit the field and time just started to accelerate.

For those looking forward to going on a mission (Meadows Ward YM, I'm looking at you 😉), prepare yourself in every way possible: Grow your knowledge of the gospel and definitely read Preach my Gospel even if you aren't a missionary. Go to my mission prep 🙏,  To my mission prep teachers, The BecksThank You because EVERYTHING we did in mission prep we have to do here. Especially with stuff like introducing our friends to Members, that roleplay is so helpful because it's so commonplace and key to our friends to get them to know the members.

My advice to those who are on a mission or about to go on a mission is just enjoy every possible thing you can. Have fun, don't be disobedient, take what the mission gives you, a new culture, and have fun with it. Just know it's okay to struggle, especially with the language or companion. NEVER compare your mission with someone else's mission. Every missionary has different challenges so sometimes you'll have a different challenge and sometimes your friends will have different challenges they are facing. When facing challenges, "take it a day at a time" as my Dad would say, and always remember Jesus Christ knows EXACTLY 💯 how you feel. Sometimes, for lack of a better term, you're just going to have to "thug it out".  But thuggin' it out builds resistance and grit, useful tools for later in life. A mission is a hard thing, don't get me wrong, and it's the best thing you'll ever do.

(Little language spill)

Also I don't remember if I've mentioned this already but Bicalono is crazy. From town to town they have a different language. Different grammar and vocabulary all under the umbrella term Bicolano, which is subjectively a "Dilalict of Tagalog. It's for real the tower of Babylon here, over 58 languages just in the mission. (Daraga Bicolano) compared to (Guinobatan Bicolano) is particularly crazy because of its rich history and cultural influence, I study it a little, but of course focus on Tagalog.

Bicalono (Daraga) words of the day:

Padaba-taka (I love you) ❤️

New friends that came to church. They were happy, I promise.
