Week 21 ~ The Rains Came Down and the Floods Came Up 💧 🚿

Image
It literally flooded this week, like the whole city just had flood water ankle deep everywhere, which is a pretty common occurrence here, but it makes working hard. If you walk through the flood water (especially in the city) and you have any sort of laceration or cut, and there is rat pee in the water, you straight up just return to God's presence. Kita Kits sa judgment day. This week we set 2 PBD (potential baptism date) so that was good, we worked hard and now we just have to continue to pray and progress our friends through helping them develop connections with God.  Spiritual thought: Our goal as missionaries isn't to just put all the information we have into people's heads, it's to help them to learn how to feel the Spirit, if we can do that, we can make lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ "All" can return to the presence of God spotless. However, some people choose to use their agency in a negative way...

Week 20 ~ I Woke Up in a New BUGATTI 🔥 🔥

Hello my friends and family, Another week down here in the great city of Daraga. No lie, time flies here and I think it's because we have Jollibees or it's the power lines that will kill you if you touch them, that I feel keep getting lower and lower each day.  Update on the work : We for real are grinding because it's really hard to find in the city. However, the friends we have are progressing for the most part and attending Church. The Lord is great and is furthering his work here on earth. The church here in Legazpi is not established yet, as the mission is relatively young. We only have one stake, and many small branches scattered throughout the three islands. President Whitworth calls us builders, because we are building up the church buildings and stakes here. Luckily the Lord's work is moving forward speedily, and Zion is gathering quickly.  Spiritual Thought:  Two things that Elder Solidum, my companion, and I have noticed is this: 1. The Lord prepares peopl...

Week 19 ~ Field Time Dilation Theory (4 months in)

Ummm...I'm four months into my mission? That's crazy, but it's really not. In the MTC I felt like I had been a missionary my whole life. It was so slow, then I hit the field and time just started to accelerate.  For those looking forward to going on a mission (Meadows Ward YM, I'm looking at you  ), prepare yourself in every way possible: Grow your knowledge of the gospel and definitely read Preach my Gospel even if you aren't a missionary. Go to my mission prep  ,  To my mission prep teachers,  The Becks ,  Thank You  because  EVERYTHING  we did in mission prep we have to do here. Especially with stuff like introducing our friends to Members, that roleplay is so helpful because it's so commonplace and key to our friends to get them to know the members.  My advice to those who are on a mission or about to go on a mission is just enjoy every possible thing you can. Have fun, don't be disobedient, take what the mission gives you, a new cul...

Week 18 ~ Gird Them Loins

Image
This week actually flew by and grabe namin (wow!) we are in another one!  This area has been a grind, trying to find and teach here is pretty difficult, but it's taught me great lessons.  I guess a funny thing that happened this week was some drunk Tatay walked up to me and started talking in drunkin' Tagalog and I have a hard time understanding regular Tagalog, but, to my understanding, I think he was having fun. He told me to come back sooooooo maybe return lesson? Joke-lang.  We had four people attend sacrament who aren't members so the work's going, just got to keep them on the path to baptism and more importantly on the path to lifelong covenants and church members which leads me into my spiritual thought. Elder Spackman's spiritual thought para sa inyo (for you): Two things that have really been on my mind lately is how this church is the restored church of Jesus Christ. I feel as if sometimes we often glance over that because we have the Book of Mormon. Howev...
